The city of Los Angeles initiates recovery efforts for residents impacted by recent heavy storms, unveiling a series of “one-day” local assistance centers to provide crucial aid and information.
Comprehensive Assistance Centers:
Each center is a comprehensive resource hub, offering residents access to recovery services and assistance from government agencies and nonprofits. The aim is to streamline support processes and facilitate easy access to aid.
Mayor Karen Bass emphasizes the importance of community awareness and participation in accessing recovery assistance, urging Angelenos to spread the word about the centers’ availability.
Center Locations and Schedule:
The centers are scheduled as follows:
- Feb. 15: Mid-Valley Senior Citizen Center, Panorama City (noon to 8 p.m.)
- Feb. 16: South Los Angeles Sports Activity Center (noon to 8 p.m.)
- Feb. 17: Pan Pacific Senior Activity Center (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
County Damage Assessment Survey:
City officials urge impacted residents to complete L.A. County’s damage assessment survey online. This survey aids in collecting data on repair costs, potentially qualifying the area for state or federal disaster assistance.
American Red Cross Support:
In collaboration with the American Red Cross, the immediate needs of affected individuals are addressed, focusing on essentials such as shelter, food, emotional support, and health services. The Red Cross also facilitates long-term recovery efforts in affected communities.
