According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 software update is rumored to be “the biggest” in the company’s history.

The new operating system is expected to be announced at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

While specifics are yet to be revealed, Gurman previously reported that Apple aims for iOS 18 to be its most “ambitious and compelling” update in years.

New Siri Features and Auto-Completion Improvements:

The iOS 18 update is speculated to introduce a newer version of Siri leveraging a new AI system. Apple may also enhance the Messages app, and Siri features for better sentence auto-completion and question handling.

Additionally, Apple Music could see the introduction of auto-generated playlists, a feature reminiscent of Spotify’s offering.

Integration of Generative AI in Development Tools:

Apple is reportedly considering integrating generative AI into tools like Xcode, enabling developers to create applications more efficiently.

Furthermore, productivity apps such as Pages and Keynote might receive updates incorporating generative AI capabilities.

Potential RCS Support and Adoption of Universal Profile:

iOS 18 may support the Rich Communication Services (RCS) standard, as Apple announced plans to add RCS support to iOS in 2024.

The RCS Universal Profile is expected to offer enhanced interoperability compared to SMS or MMS.

The move follows public pressure on Apple to incorporate RCS support while maintaining the distinct display of messages from Android users in green bubbles.

Further Details Expected at WWDC in June:

As the iOS 18 reveal is anticipated at WWDC in June, more specific details about the update may emerge closer to the official announcement.

The update aims to address user expectations and leverage advancements in AI to enhance various aspects of Apple’s software ecosystem.
