A heart-wrenching incident occurred on New Year’s Eve in South Los Angeles as a speeding driver collided with a family vehicle, leading to the tragic deaths of a 5-year-old girl and her father.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that the devastating accident took Place just minutes before the clock struck midnight.
Reckless Driving Shatters Family’s Lives:
The fatal crash occurred on Normandie Avenue around 11:30 p.m. when a family of four, including a 2-year-old, was struck by a speeding SUV at the intersection of 60th Place.
According to LAPD’s South Traffic Division, the driver of the SUV ran through a stop sign and t-boned the family’s car. Witnesses recounted the horrifying scene, describing the car’s spin and collision with a steel gate.
Eyewitnesses revealed courageous efforts by neighbors to rescue the children from the back seat, but the impact had left them trapped.
Firefighters had to extract the family from the vehicle, and sadly, the father succumbed to the impact while the 5-year-old girl passed away at the hospital. The mother is currently in critical condition, and the 2-year-old is fighting for her life in the pediatric intensive care unit.
