In a startling turn of events, a seasoned criminal with a history of bank robberies has once again made headlines.
Bruce Edward Bell, aged 71, previously convicted and having spent 40 years behind federal prison bars, was apprehended for allegedly robbing yet another bank in Sun Valley.
Bold Heist Unfolds in Sun Valley Bank:
On December 21, 2023, Bell reportedly walked into a bank on Vineland Avenue, making off with more than $60,000 in cash.
Displaying a chilling modus operandi, he allegedly seized an employee, brandishing a firearm threat, compelling access to a secure area within the bank premises.
Swift Police Response and Arrest:
Following the swift reporting of the robbery, the LAPD acted promptly. Spotting a vehicle fitting the description of the getaway car, a 2002 Volvo, officers intercepted and apprehended Bell. Upon searching the vehicle, a staggering $64,000 in cash was discovered, along with a black replica firearm.
Bell’s criminal activities persisted despite being released on supervised release since July 2021. His audacious return to bank robbery raises questions about the effectiveness of the penal system in reforming hardened criminals.
