Long Beach Police Arrest Suspect in Sexual Assault of Elderly Woman


A man doubted of sexually assaulting an elderly woman after gaining entry to her home under pretenses was apprehended by Long Beach police following an incident reported in the Bluff Heights area.

Alleged Deception and Assault:

According to authorities, the suspect deceived the victim by falsely claiming acquaintance with her son to gain access to her residence. 

Subsequently, he allegedly sexually assaulted the elderly woman before fleeing the scene in a dark blue or green 2000 Honda Odyssey minivan.

Police Investigation and Arrest:

Following the reported assault, Long Beach police launched an investigation, which included canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage. 

Officers diligently identified the suspect as 42-year-old Long Beach resident Kevin Parks. Parks was apprehended without incident as he entered his vehicle on Magnolia Avenue.

Kevin Parks was booked into Long Beach City Jail on suspicion of several offenses, including rape by force and felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held on $1 million bail pending further legal proceedings.

Police Response and Community Safety:

Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish condemned the assault as an exploitation of vulnerable community members and praised the department’s swift action in apprehending the suspect. 

He urged residents to verify the identity of unknown individuals, utilize communication systems, and report suspicious activities to law enforcement.

Individuals with information regarding the alleged sexual assault were encouraged to contact LBPD’s sex crimes unit at 562-570-7368. 

Cooperation from the community is vital in ensuring justice for the victim and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
