Southern California experienced a chilly start to the week as temperatures dropped into the 20s and 30s on Monday morning.

A frost advisory was in result until 9 a.m. for areas including Lake Castaic, Newhall, Santa Clarita, and Valencia, with temperatures in the low 30s. Additionally, a freeze warning covered Riverside and San Bernardino county valleys.

Wide Impact and Temperature Drops:

Cities such as Anaheim, Oxnard, Lancaster, Victorville, Long Beach, Santa Ana, and Hemet reported double-digit temperature drops compared to the previous Sunday morning.

The significant cooling trend was felt across various regions, leading to an advisory for residents to take precautions against the cold.

While a wind advisory expired after a day of powerful gusts in the region, winds were expected to diminish into Monday night.

The sudden temperature drop and winds contributed to a frosty start to the week, prompting residents to brace for cooler conditions.

Temperature Outlook and Freeze Watch:

Highs on Monday were predicted to reach the low to mid-60s for most of Los Angeles and Orange counties, with cooler temperatures in Lancaster (50°F) and Victorville (47°F).

A freeze watch was issued from late Monday night through Tuesday morning, emphasizing the continuing cold conditions.

Longer-Term Weather Forecast:

The weather outlook for the rest of the week indicated mostly dry conditions with the possibility of increased cloud cover on Wednesday into Thursday.

While rain chances were slim, there was a potential return of strong winds similar to those experienced on Sunday.
