Taylor Swift Album “Tortured Poets” Dominates U.K. Charts

Taylor Swift achieved a new career milestone in the U.K. with her latest album, “Tortured Poets,” released via EMI. The album set a record-breaking opening week with over 220,000 combined units sold in just three tracking days.

This surpasses her previous best for “Midnights,” which garnered 204,000 combined units in its first week in 2022.

Competition with U.K.’s Fastest Sellers:

While “Tortured Poets” makes a strong debut, it still has a long way to go to compete with the U.K.’s all-time fastest-selling albums. Adele’s “25” leads the pack with 800,000 first-week units, followed by Oasis’s “Be Here Now” and Ed Sheeran’s “÷.”

Chart Domination Expected:

Swift is poised to dominate the U.K. charts, with “Tortured Poets” already becoming the fastest-selling album of 2024 so far. Additionally, Swift is expected to secure the top three spots on the national singles chart with tracks like “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, “The Tortured Poets Department,” and “So Long, London.”

“Fortnight” is predicted to become Swift’s fourth U.K. No. 1 single, following previous hits like “Look What You Made Me Do,” “cardigan,” and “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version).”

Chart-Topping Album Success:

With “Tortured Poets,” Swift is set to achieve her 12th U.K. No. 1 album, matching Madonna’s record for solo female artists. She also becomes the first and only artist to secure 10 U.K. No. 1 albums this century.

Record-Breaking Achievements:

Swift’s 11th studio album has already broken records globally, including setting a new streaming mark on Spotify with over 300 million streams in a single day and selling 700,000 copies on vinyl in its first week in the United States.

The Official U.K. Albums Chart will publish late Friday, April 26, and reveal the full extent of Swift’s chart domination.
