“Borderlands” Movie Trailer Unveils Star-Studded Shootouts

The highly anticipated trailer for the long-awaited “Borderlands” movie adaptation from Lionsgate has arrived, showcasing intense shootouts featuring Hollywood heavyweights Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart. 

Scheduled for release on August 9th, the film brings to life the beloved first-person shooter video game series developed by Gearbox Software.

A Star-Studded Ensemble:

Cate Blanchett leads the ensemble cast as Lilith, an outlaw hired by weapons manufacturer Atlas (Édgar Ramírez) to locate his missing daughter on the dangerous planet of Pandora. 

Joining her are Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart, Ariana Greenblatt, and Florian Munteanu, portraying members of Lilith’s crew. Jack Black lends his voice to the robot Claptrap, adding to the film’s impressive lineup.

Expanded Cast and Cameo Appearances:

The ensemble cast includes Haley Bennett, Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, and others, with Penn Jillette making a cameo appearance. 

Known for his role in “Borderlands 3” and as one-half of the magician duo Penn and Teller, Jillette’s inclusion adds an extra layer of excitement for fans of the franchise.

Development and Production:

The “Borderlands” film adaptation has been in development since 2015, with Lionsgate spearheading the project and Eli Roth (“Hostel,” “Fin”) attached to direct since 2020. 

Filming took place in Hungary from April to June 2021, bringing the expansive world of Pandora to life on the big screen.
