Elton John Inducted Into EGOT Hall of Fame with Emmy Win

Elton John, the iconic singer and songwriter, has been inducted into the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) Hall of Fame after winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Variety Special. 

The award for “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger’s Stadium” made him one of the few celebrities to achieve EGOT status. The accolade acknowledges his outstanding contributions across various entertainment platforms.

Elton John’s Emmy win was for his farewell concert special, “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger’s Stadium, ” which was streamed on Disney+. 

The special, capturing his last concert in North America on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, received three Emmy nominations.

Recognition and Gratitude from Elton John:

While John did not attend the event to accept the award, he expressed his gratitude in a news release, stating, “I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight.” 

He acknowledged the support of his fans and emphasized the power of the arts to bring joy to people’s lives.

Bob Chapek, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, praised Elton John’s impact on music and culture, describing him as “unrivaled.” 

Chapek highlighted the universal appeal and personal connection of John’s music. The singer’s relationship with Disney includes composing music for the 1994 film “The Lion King.”

Elton John’s Farewell Tour and Upcoming Album:

Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour marked a significant milestone, including his 2,000th U.S. concert at Dodger Stadium. 

He shared memories and gratitude with fans during the tour, his grand finale in North America. 

In addition to the farewell tour, John announced that he and songwriting partner Bernie Taupin had completed a new album, promising surprises and a youthful vitality.
